Sioux Falls arts administrators have identified a new executive director for the annual outdoor exhibition. Jana Anderson assumes the position on Monday, October 27, 2026. She replaces the founder-led structure with professional management.

Anderson previously served as lead curator at the Washington Pavilion’s Visual Arts Center. She joined that institution in 2022 as an assistant curator and advanced to her current title in 2023. Her duties included overseeing exhibitions, educational programs, and community partnerships. She also managed the stewardship of a permanent collection containing more than 1,600 artworks.

During her tenure at the Pavilion, Anderson coordinated logistics for the SculptureWalk event. She worked directly with participating artists and financial sponsors. She also managed the installation of Cyclicality, a permanent sculpture by artist Jen Lewin. That project received more than $350,000 in donor funding. Board president Andrew Eitreim noted the Pavilion team helped the organization grow to a level requiring an experienced arts leader.

Anderson holds a Master of Fine Arts in painting from Indiana University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in studio art from Hamline University. She has taught art courses at several institutions, including South Dakota State University, Dakota State University, and Indiana University. Eitreim stated the board is excited for Anderson to lead the team.

Anderson described her career as operating at the intersection of art, community, and organizational leadership. She expressed enthusiasm for helping build the arts scene in Sioux Falls. The transition marks the formal end of the organization's founder-led era.
