U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville has raised nearly $11 million more than Democrat Doug Jones in the race for Alabama governor. A review of campaign finance records filed with the Alabama Secretary of State shows Tuberville has accumulated about $17.7 million since entering the race. Jones has raised more than $6.7 million. The data was compiled through October 27, 2026, ahead of the general election.
The two campaigns began their fundraising efforts at different times. Tuberville's campaign reported its first contributions on May 27, 2025. Jones entered the race later, with his first reported contributions appearing on November 24, 2025. This six-month head start allowed Tuberville to build a substantial financial cushion before his opponent launched his bid for the governor's office.
The source of the money differs sharply between the two candidates. Donors who gave $5,000 or more account for 87% of Tuberville's total funds. About 40 of these major donors gave $100,000 or more each. In contrast, only 19% of Jones's money comes from donors giving $5,000 or more. No donor has given Jones $100,000 or more. Approximately 40% of Jones's funds arrived in gifts of $100 or less.
Individual donors provided about $8.8 million to Tuberville, which is roughly half of his total. Businesses and political action committees, or PACs, together provided about 49% of his money. For Jones, the breakdown is almost entirely individual support. Individuals gave about 98% of his total, while businesses and PACs contributed about 2%. These figures include in-kind contributions, which are goods or services rather than cash.
In the final week before the data cutoff, four PACs gave Tuberville $350,000 in cash. Tiger Paw PAC gave $150,000, the Alabama Builders PAC gave $100,000, the Alabama Medical PAC gave $75,000, and Nucor's PAC gave $25,000. ProgressPAC, the political arm of the Business Council of Alabama, also paid $229,883 for a mailer and advertising supporting Tuberville. Jones's reports from the same period show two PAC gifts totaling only $1,100.
Spending patterns reflect the fundraising gap. Tuberville has spent more than $15.1 million since May 2025. About $8.6 million of that went to Go Big Media LLC, a Washington, D.C. firm. Jones has spent more than $6.2 million, with 52% of that amount going to Lever Communications. When payments to its affiliate, Joe Trippi and Associates, are included, the share rises to 54%. Trippi is a Democratic strategist.
Most spending for both campaigns occurred in September and October. Those two months account for about $10 million of Tuberville's spending and about $4 million of Jones's spending. Tuberville's campaign spent about $362,000 a month from January through August 2026, then $4.1 million in September and $5.9 million in October. Jones's campaign averaged about $277,000 a month from January through August, then spent more than $1.4 million in September and more than $2.5 million in October. Tuberville currently has about $2.2 million in cash on hand, while Jones has about $508,461.
