A 57-year-old Brentwood man was charged with sex trafficking a minor following a Tuesday morning raid.
Luis Parada was taken into custody at 4 MacArthur Ave. at approximately 6:40 a.m. after police executed a search warrant. He is accused of trafficking a girl for about two years, starting when she was 15. The victim is currently 17. Police stated that Parada raped the girl and arranged for other local men to pay him for sexual access to her. Detectives are also looking into whether narcotics played a role in the scheme.
Officers seized a 1987 Winnebago, 22 cellphones, a replica firearm, a machete, and various electronics during the search. Forensic evidence was also collected from the property. Parada was charged with third-degree rape, sex trafficking of a minor, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at First District Court in Central Islip.
Two other men from Brentwood were arrested on drug charges during the operation. Rigoberto Celisgarcia, 48, and Amado Campos, 59, were each charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both received desk appearance tickets and are set to appear in First District Court at a later date. Detectives are reviewing the case to determine if additional charges will be filed against any of the three men.
The investigation began about two weeks ago when Third Squad detectives notified the Human Trafficking Investigations Unit. Investigators suspected a teenager was being trafficked at the MacArthur Ave. address. The search warrant operation involved the Suffolk County Police Department's Crime Scene Section, Third Squad detectives, Third Precinct Crime Section, patrol officers, and investigators from the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. Police are asking the public to contact the Human Trafficking Investigations Unit at 631-854-7512 or Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-8477 with information about the suspects.
