Larrimors to Close Doors After 87 Years in Business
The Pittsburgh clothing retailer will begin a going-out-of-business sale Nov. 4 at One PNC Plaza.

Larrimors, a family-owned designer clothing store in Downtown Pittsburgh, will close after 87 years in business. Harry Slesinger and Larry Morris opened the store in 1939 in a 1,000-square-foot, one-level storefront in the Union Trust Building. The store grew within that space, prompting a second Downtown location at Grant Street and Fifth Avenue in the 1980s. A second Larrimors opened in 1992 at The Galleria at Mt. Lebanon and operated for more than 20 years.
After 70 years in the Union Trust Building, Larrimors relocated in 2010 to One PNC Plaza, where the store now occupies a space 13 times larger than the original 1939 location. A going-out-of-business sale is scheduled to begin Nov. 4 at 9 a.m. at One PNC Plaza. WPXI-TV reported that no specific closing date has been set, but the store will close permanently by the end of the year.
