The Milwaukee Brewers won their first World Series championship on Wednesday.

They defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The victory gave Milwaukee their first title in franchise history. The team had previously lost the World Series in 1982 to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Rookie Cooper Pratt was the offensive standout. He drove in two runs and recorded two hits. Pratt extended his hitting streak to six consecutive at-bats across the final two games. This set a new World Series record for rookies, breaking a mark established by New York Yankees player Brian Doyle in 1978. His streak ended with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

Jacob Misiorowski started the game for Milwaukee. He threw 5.2 scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and one walk while striking out two batters. He left the game in the sixth inning due to a cramp in his right calf. William Contreras and David Hamilton also contributed to the offense. Contreras hit an RBI double, and Hamilton recorded a run-scoring single in his fourth straight game with a base knock.

Tampa Bay struggled to generate offense against the Brewers' pitching. Drew Rasmussen started for the Rays. He pitched on three days of rest. He allowed two runs on two hits over four innings. He struck out four batters and did not issue a walk. The Rays did manage to reach base frequently, but they failed to drive in additional runs.

Chandler Simpson hit an RBI double in the ninth inning. That was the only run Tampa Bay scored. Trevor Megill pitched the final two innings for Milwaukee. He induced Richie Palacios to ground out to second base for the final out. The Brewers won 11 of their 13 postseason games during this run.

The Rays remain without a World Series title. They previously lost championship series in 2008 and 2020. This was their third appearance in the World Series. Milwaukee secured the win in five games.
