A close race for the U.S. Senate has drawn national attention to Ohio, and the campaign for incumbent Sherrod Brown is relying on local venues to build momentum. On Tuesday, the Brown team held a rally at Cure Coffee and Cocktails in downtown Columbus.
John Legend, who grew up in Springfield, worked behind the scenes to help organize the event. The singer greeted attendees and spoke to the crowd about the need for grassroots engagement in the upcoming election. He emphasized the value of community investment and local voting efforts.
The rally featured speakers from the Brown campaign and various Ohio organizations. The Ohio State University African American Voices Gospel Choir provided musical entertainment for the audience.
After the political gathering, Legend stayed at the venue to take part in the shop's 45 Alive event. He played music alongside DJ Prime, a local vinyl spinner. The coffee shop is located at 154 N 3rd St.
Voters in Ohio have until November 1 to cast an early vote in the midterms. The general election is scheduled for November 2, with polls open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
