3-2 vote selects new Warrington supervisor
Vacancy board chair Dan Metz broke a tie to appoint Mike Thom, filling the seat left by Vanessa Maurer.

Mike Thom was appointed as a Warrington Township supervisor on Tuesday night.
The township's vacancy board voted 3 to 2 to confirm the selection. This board only meets when the five-member board of supervisors cannot agree on a candidate. Such a deadlock occurred on October 13.
Republican Supervisors Brian Kelly and Mike Diorka nominated Thom. Democratic Supervisors Andrew McCaulay and Ruth Schemm nominated Dominick Petrillo. The board selected Thom to replace Republican Vanessa Maurer. Maurer resigned from the board in September due to health issues.
Dan Metz, the vacancy board chair, cast the deciding vote. He appointed Thom to serve through December 2027. The board's decision resolved the split nomination that had stalled the regular board of supervisors.
Thom is an attorney and partner with Obermayer Law in Doylestown. His practice focuses on business, finance, and municipal water and wastewater system acquisitions. He also advises local governments on related transactions.
Thom holds several community roles in Central Pennsylvania. He serves on the Warrington Township Pension Advisory Board. He is a board director for Warrington Baseball and the St. Joseph/St. Robert CYO. He previously worked on the Montgomery Township Parks and Recreation Board and the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation’s Advancement Committee.
