The Mütter Museum in Philadelphia will combine its medical archives with a new revenue stream on Sunday, Nov. 22, by hosting its inaugural Tattoo Flash Day. The event runs from noon to 6 p.m. and partners with Frequency Tattoo to provide body art inspired by the museum's historical medical library.
Admission for the event is set at $15 per person. This fee covers entry to the Tattoo Flash Day but does not include access to the museum's standard galleries. Visitors who wish to explore the main collection must purchase separate admission. Tickets are currently available through the museum's online registration page.
Permanent tattoo slots are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Holding an event ticket does not guarantee a seat in the tattoo chair. Temporary tattoo options will also be available for attendees who prefer a less permanent commitment.
The program includes educational components alongside the ink stations. Museum educators will speak on the history of tattooing and its links to medical practice. Physical collection items related to the trade will be on display for attendees to view during the event hours.
The venue is located at 19 S. 22nd St. in Philadelphia, PA 19103. The museum is known for its unusual medical collections, and this event marks the first time it has hosted a dedicated tattooing session in partnership with a local studio.
